A first for me in my landscape photography portfolio – an abstract shot! I haven’t uploaded a video in a while & there has been a reason for that. I’ve finally decided to visit my home country, South Africa, after being away for five years so something a bit different from my usual Scottish landscape photography videos.
In this landscape photography video I travel to Bloubergstrand, just outside Cape Town, to look for a simple composition. I get set up on the beach for an abstract seascape long exposure of Table Mountain from across the bay.
For the composition I’ve focused on simplicity and colour. Using a 15 stop Lee Super Stopper ND filter, I smooth out the waves in the sea to create definite bands of colour – white strip of beach, turquoise and dark blue sea offset by Table Mountain with a cloudless sky.
I really enjoyed being home and spending time with my parents. Cape Town is mind-blowing – my favourite city without a doubt. If you get the chance to go there I highly encourage you to do so – you won’t be disappointed.
Hopefully you enjoy this video and, if you’re just getting into landscape photography, it inspires you to get out taking photos.
I recommend you subscribe to my YouTube channel – there are more videos to come so be sure to subscribe so that you don’t miss them.
